"Education:  comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations.  To give children a good education in manners, arts, and science is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties." Definition from Noah Webster's First Edition of an American Dictionary of the English Language 1828

Further to this Noah Webster also declared:  "Education is useless without the Bible"

Keys
The Lord led Mrs. Oliver to begin serving in education over 10 years ago and to begin surveying the condition and fruit of various systems and methods both in the United Kingdom and in the United States.  After observing, working with children and other teachers and teaching at various academic levels in different educational settings she is convinced there are three keys for training up children in the way they should go:
  1. geniune education is based on God's Word and the truth found in the Bible
  2. geniune education addresses a child's spirit, soul and physical needs
  3. superior education is home based, parent designed, using the tutorial method and fine tuned for the unique learning needs and callings of each child
Standards of Education
There is a message flowing through the land declaring that knowledge and understanding can be gained apart from spiritual truth.  When the enemy comes in, like a flood the Lord will lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19b).  Most High Learning is part of the Lord’s standard raising.

For this reason all educational services provided through Most High Learning are completely rooted in knowing the Most High God, the Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe that the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding (Proverbs 9:10).  Also as our heavenly Father is the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 21:6) and author of every created thing (Rev 4:11), He Himself defines exactly what education should be and should contain.  Therefore our curriculum and pursuits are based upon the revealed Word of God in the Bible.

What about home education?
Home education can be a controversial subject for some working parents.  We fully recognize that full time home education is not feasible for all families.  But Gregg Harris makes an excellent point in his book The Christian Home School (1995) :  "Rather than ask, 'Is home schooling for everyone?' let me ask, 'Should every Christian home be a place where children are instructed?'  If the answer is yes, then welcome to the home school movement.  Take your place as the God-ordained faculty of God's educational program for children.  It remains for us only to define what an education is for and how much of a child's education should be provided at home."

The Lord never intended for government to serve as parent
At the same time we also agree with the insight offered by Roy Hanson, Jr. of Christian Home Educators Association of California : "Government should not be the parent: Parents are too readily accepting government help for all kinds of things from day care and health care to education. We are losing our freedoms because individuals aren't willing to take full personal responsibility along with the sacrifices necessary to care for one's own family (I Timothy 5:8).  Our family is one of God's sacred trusts to us; we are His stewards! In contrast, when we permit our family members to become dependent upon government for any part of their care or training, we are acquiescing to Big Government becoming the substitute parent and an idol in our life [idolatry is looking to any other source in our life other than God and the specific means He ordains to be the source of our provision, direction, and protection].

God never ordained or authorized civil government to be involved in any aspect of family life/care, including areas such as health care, housing, child care, and education. ["Commending" and "praising" those who do right is totally different from either subsidizing and/or controlling those who do right (Romans 13:4 & I Peter 2:14)].

Parents get used to depending upon government's help and begin to justify and defend their own dependency (i.e. "We deserve it. We pay taxes and we're only getting part of our tax money back," etc.). Parents often take this naive position without knowing - or sometimes even caring - about the growing government controls that always come sooner or later with government funding." Roy Hanson, Jr.

We are wise to heed these words and launch out into the deep knowing the Lord will provide everything we need to minister to the needs of our families.  Whether this means private Bible based education or home based education we should be very aware of how much control we ourselves are granting the government in regards to our children and homes.
